ABOUT

Polana Sp. z. o. o With three farms (one in the South East and two in the North West of Poland), Polana are the largest organic blueberry growers in the world for fresh pick fruit, and also the largest Blueberry growers in Poland of conventional fruit. In 2014, they produced 2000 tonnes, helping to confirm Farm Fresh PO as the largest supplier in Europe of both organic and conventional blueberries.

COMPANY PROFILE

The company was formed in 1999 in the Lublin area of south eastern Poland. Their first farm, called ‘Ochoza’ was a drained peat bog which had never before been cultivated. The site was ideal for organic farming and, following a significant amount of preparation work by the Polana company, was accredited as a fully organic producer in 2002. Ochoza Farm is now the largest producer of fresh pick organic blueberries in the world, with around 100 hectares.

In 2005, the Polana company purchased two further farms in the north west of Poland – called ‘Zelimucha’ and ‘Wieslistowo’, totalling 346 hectares (of which 165 are blueberries in full production). In 2009, Polana produced 2000 tonnes of fruit and, combined with the 800 tonnes from the other members, confirms Farm Fresh PO as the largest supplier in Europe of both organic and conventional blueberries.
